Game 1: Westerly 3 East Greenwich 1
All Stater Dean Pons struck out 15 batters and held East Greenwich to three hits over six innings to give Westerly a game one victory in the Preliminary Round of the Connie Mack Playoffs.
Pons also had a double and scored two runs. Miner had the big hit for Westerly, a two-run single in the third inning that put Westerly ahead to stay.
Noah Burdick got the save for Westerly with one inning of no-hit relief.
Aiden Powers had two hits for EG and scored their lone run. Grogan O’Brien struck out seven batters and allowed no runs on one hit in 4 2/3 innings of relief.
